Occupational Therapy

genU’s Occupational Therapy team helps people of all ages build independence, develop daily living skills, and access support for a more fulfilling life.

Achieve your goals with Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapy (OT) team supports people of all ages to boost their independence in daily living skills as well as hobbies and fun activities.

From learning skills and building confidence in meeting new people and interacting in different situations, to developing cooking and cleaning skills around your home, our team works with you and your support network to set your goals and work toward them.

Do you want to learn to cook, catch the bus or dance at the local disco? No matter what your aim is, our team of Occupational Therapists can support you to achieve it.

We’ll get to know what’s important to you

When we meet you, we’ll ask lots of questions to understand your interests, goals and more about your support network. We can chat with you at home, online or in your local community, wherever you feel most comfortable.

Setting and achieving goals – big and small

We’ll work with you to work out the goals you want to achieve with support. These could include personal care skills, daily living tasks, social interaction, emotional or sensory regulation or job readiness development. Get in touch with our team to chat about the full range of skills we can work with you to achieve.

Assistive technology, equipment and modifications

There are lots of options when it comes to using equipment or technology designed to help with daily tasks. From tipping kettles and mobility aids to voice prompted or eye-read technologies that boost independence in the home, our team is equipped with the expertise to offer you advice on these items to support your day-to-day life and help you achieve your independence goals.

Home modifications can also make your home more accessible and comfortable for you, matching your lifestyle and support needs. Chat to our team to find out more about your options.

Making your house feel like home

Our Occupational Therapists can play a significant role in supporting you to live in a house that feels like home. Whether it’s looking at modifications to your current house, or looking at new, more appropriate accommodation that better supports your needs and in-home supports required, the team will work with you to assess your needs and provide recommendation reports you can use in support of funding applications.
